The Sidney Prize is awarded to a piece of journalism that exposes social or economic injustice in the United States or Canada. The winner is chosen by a panel of judges and announced on the second Wednesday of each month. Nominations are due by the last day of the month. Nominees may be individuals or organizations. Nominations may be made for a published article or video, or for a speech.
The 2025 call for entries is now closed. Please check back in 2026 to see if there is an opportunity for you to write for the Hillman Foundation in the US or Canada. In the meantime, we will continue to award the monthly Sidney Prize for investigative journalism in service of the common good.
